Finally a community hub for 8-19 years old and up to 25 for those with disabilities – currently there is no access from Pulse development unless the council can provide temporary barriers to have access to Montrose park to reach ‘Unitas’ please watch this space for more information.
Your children will benefit from many facilities of the youth centre including a music room, gym, boxing ring etc.
Barnet Youth Zone, named by young people as ‘Unitas’, is an independent charity which will be a purpose-built facility for the borough’s young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities.
It will also be London’s second OnSide Youth Zone and will be located on Montrose Playing Fields in Burnt Oak, near to Grahame Park and Colindale, as part of the redevelopment and regeneration of the playing fields.
This infrastructure of facilities is based upon OnSide Youth Zones 21st Century Youth Facility Model and young people from across Barnet will have access to all these fantastic facilities for a cost of £5 for an annual membership and 50p per visit.
The Youth Zone will provide a safe environment where young people can come and enjoy themselves and will enable young people to raise their aspirations and confidence to create a happier and healthier generation.

Further to your email below, I can advise that the project team are in regular communication with Fairview Ltd and are awaiting confirmation on opening dates for the bridge.
The Councils improvement programme at Montrose/Silkstream Park involves the whole park, which is a live construction site with many health and safety considerations. The team are reviewing the feasibility of opening particular zones within park to enable access from the Fairview site through to the Unitas Youthzone.
However, this could not be achieved until post the summer period at the earliest whilst our construction partner, Blakedown Ltd complete associated works. We would also need to ensure that in opening up specific routes, the health and safety of visitors to the site was not compromised.
I have copied in Ruth Miller, Project Manager for the scheme who will provide further updates in due course. I appreciate your understanding and patience in advance.
